Community Guidelines

FOSS Place is an open-source community committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative environment for all participants. We value diversity and strive to provide a safe space where individuals can freely express their ideas, learn, and contribute to the community. To achieve this, we have established this Code of Conduct that applies to all community members, including contributors, maintainers, users, and visitors. By participating in FOSS Place, you agree to abide by these guidelines:

  1. Be Respectful: Treat every community member with respect and courtesy, regardless of their background, experience level, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, or any other personal attribute. Disagreements are natural but should be addressed in a constructive and civil manner.

  2. Be Inclusive: Embrace diversity and foster an inclusive community. Avoid discriminatory language, harassment, and any behavior that makes others feel unwelcome. Promote a culture of open-mindedness and empathy.

  3. Be Collaborative: Collaborate with others in a positive and constructive manner. Encourage and support new contributors, sharing knowledge, and helping fellow community members. Work together to achieve common goals and enhance the community's overall experience.

  4. Be Open to Feedback: Be open to giving and receiving constructive feedback. Use feedback as an opportunity for growth and improvement. When providing feedback, ensure it is respectful and actionable.

  5. Be Transparent: Be honest and transparent in your interactions and communications. Respect the confidentiality of sensitive information shared within the community.

  6. Use Content Warnings or Spoiler Warnings: Use Content Warnings (CWs) or spoiler warnings when posting sensitive or potentially distressing content. Respect others' boundaries and provide warnings for potentially triggering material.

  7. Stay On-Topic: When participating in specific categories/channels, stay on-topic and relevant to the category/channel's purpose.

  8. No Spam: Refrain from spamming or promoting commercial or non-community-related content without prior approval.

  9. No Impersonations: Do not impersonate other users, organizations, or individuals.

  10. No Doxxing: Do not share personal information about others without their consent. Respect the privacy and confidentiality of others.

  11. No NSFW Content: Posting or sharing explicit or NSFW (Not Safe For Work) content is strictly prohibited.

  12. No Piracy/Illegal Content: Do not share or request pirated software, copyrighted materials, or any illegal content.

  13. No Ban Evasion: If you receive a temporary ban or restriction, do not attempt to evade it. Ban evasion will lead to permanent removal from the community.

  14. Respect Copyright and Licenses: Ensure that you have the necessary rights to post content. Give proper attribution to original authors and respect copyright licenses.

  15. Report Incidents: If you witness or experience any conduct that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to the community administrators via the designated channels. Reports will be handled with confidentiality and addressed promptly.

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in temporary or permanent restrictions on participation in the community. The severity and consequences of each violation will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the hub moderators and administrators.

Remember that FOSS Place thrives on collaboration, kindness, and mutual respect. As a member of this community, you play a vital role in maintaining a positive and inclusive atmosphere for everyone. Let us all work together to create a supportive and vibrant environment for learning, sharing, and building great things.

This Code of Conduct is subject to improvement and evolution. We encourage community members to provide feedback and suggestions for its enhancement.
